Recycle Week at gNappies
Well, at gNappies, we are proud to be part of the circular economy, and Recycle Now’s Recycle Week is close to our hearts.
As a SILVER certified Cradle to Cradle product, we know that our gPants will be worn again and again, and then passed on to more babies, to be used again and again.
And we’re proud to tell you that gNappies disposable inserts break down in home composts in 50-150 days, taking baby’s wet nappies and turning them into a valuable soil amendment.
We asked Darren at One Dad 3 Girls if he would like to share any upcycling stories with us this week, and today being #NationalUpcyclingDay he is sharing the most amazing bench that his family have created…
over to Darren:
Our girls have now grown up and most of their stuff we’ve either given away or sold at car boot sales. There is a few items, items which are a bit more personal that we’ve kept.
These items we didn’t want to just keep boxed up in the loft so we’ve tried to make something of them. Mrs OD3G is quite creative so some of their old baby clothes were cut up and made into a blanket for the girls’ room.
And then – our latest creation involved their old cot. After getting it down from the loft, a couple of coats of outdoor chalk paint and a couple of small adaptations we had turned an old unused cot into a new garden bench.
We will now always have a reminder in our garden of the time our girls were small and it means it wasn’t just thrown away at the dump.
To create this all we used was some outdoor chalk paint and some waterproof fabric to cover the old mattress to create a cushion. Simple and an easy way to keep a memory alive.
Thank you Darren!
